Why i don’t like the charmed reboot

It’s not like I don’t like it. I find that is not fair to think that just because someone doesn’t like something with poc in it they are Automatically racist. I have no problem with the fact that they are poc in fact I love it. But it’s just they can’t act. In the original charmed it was a chessy bad acting but this one look low budget and they cant act. The demons look bad. And the story line is more like witches of East end mixed with Buffy the vampire slayer. And I don’t like it.

More often than not I’ll crack into a sprawling fantasy series and, while I appreciate the luscious descriptions of furniture, landscapes, and clothing, all I’m focused on is that I don’t actually know how this world works. I only know what it looks like.  

Including some functionality to your universe can add to immersion and give your reader a strong foundation on which to build their mental model of your universe. 

You certainly don’t need to use all of these questions! In fact, I recommend against that, as all of these certainly won’t make it into your final draft. I personally find that starting my worldbuilding off with 5 to 10 functional questions helps pave the way for glittery and elaborate aesthetic development later on.

  • How is the healthcare funded in your world?
  • How does healthcare functionally differ between the wealthy and the poor? (i.e. can only the wealthy go to hospitals? do poor families often have to rely on back-alley procedures?)
  • Where are health centers (i.e. hospitals, small clinics, etc.) organized in your cities?
    • Does it differ in smaller towns?
    • How does this affect people’s ability to get healthcare?
  • Is healthcare magical, and if it is, how does that affect the healthcare system? 
    • If healing is instantaneous, how does that affect people’s views on injury, illness, and chronic ailments?
  • If you have both magical and physical healthcare, which one is deemed superior and how does that affect society? 
  • What illnesses are common in your world? 
    • How does this affect daily life? 
  • What do the people in your world think illnesses are? 
    • Is it a miasma theory? 
    • Humor theory? 
    • Demons? 
    • Do they know about biological viruses and bacteria? 
    • How does this affect healthcare?
  • How do people get water? 
    • Is the water sanitary and if not, how do they sanitize it?
  • How does agriculture work? 
    • Is it large corporations or individual farms?
    • What sort of agricultural technology exists in your world and how does it affect food production?
  • Are farmers wealthy or poor?
  • What sort of natural resources does your world/country(ies) have and how are they obtained?
    • How does this affect the average wealth of the country?
    • How does this wealth affect the culture? 
  • What livestock or beasts of burden are most valued? Least valued? Why?
  • What is considered a luxury good vs. a regular good?
  • What forms of transportation does your world have?
    • What classes use what forms of transportation?
    • How far has the average citizen traveled, given your transportation limitations?
  • Which cities are the most accessible and which are the least? Why?
  • How do popular transportation methods change how cities/towns are laid out?
  • Does your world have public transportation? What is it?
  • Is there a coming-of-age aspect to travel?
  • Describe your world’s postal system or whatever equivalent there is. 
    • Who pays for it? 
    • How reliable is it? 
    • Are there emergency methods for transporting information?
  • How does your world keep time (i.e. watches, sundials, water clock, etc.)?
  • Does your world have a currency system, barter system, or something else? 
  • If you have multiple countries, do different currencies have different values across said countries?
      • How does this affect travel?
  • Do you have banks in your world and if so, how are they run?
    • Who owns the banks? Government? Wealthy? How does this affect the economy and/or class system?
  • How does credit operate in your universe?
  • Does your world operate more on big corporations or small business? Something in between?
  • How are workers/labourers treated in your world? 
    • Are there workers unions and if so, what are common views on unions? 
  • Describe your tax system. If you don’t have a tax system, explain why and how your world is affected by that. 
  • Can certain social classes not own property, certain livestock, certain businesses, etc.? Why?
  • How are business records kept? Are business records kept?
  • If your world has technology, does your world prioritize developing entertainment tech, communications tech, transportation tech or something else entirely?
    • What does this say about your world?
    • How does this affect your economy?
  • To the closest approximation, what type of government does your world have? 
  • How are rulers/presidents/nobles put in place? 
  • How much power does an individual ruler have?

    • Is your accused innocent until proven guilty, or guilty until proven innocent?

    • If you have prisons, describe how they are organized and run, and who owns them. 
    • Does differing ownership change how the prisons operate?
  • What are the major ways in which laws between countries vary? 
    • Do laws between cities vary? If so, how and why?
  • How does citizenship work in your world? What rights and privileges do citizens have that others do not? 
    • Can certain classes or races not become citizens?
  • Are there certain taboo subjects or opinions that artist/authors/musicians are not allowed to depict (i.e. portraying the official religion in a negative light, explicit sexual material, etc.)? What does this say about your society?
    • How do people get around these censorship laws?
  • What is the official hierarchy of duty in your world? (i.e. is family the most important, or patriotism? What about clan?)
  • How many languages are there in your world, and how many languages share a common origin? 
    • How many people are multilingual? 
    • Which language is the most common?
    • How is multilingualism viewed?
    • How are different languages viewed? (i.e. is one language ugly/barbaric while another is romantic and sensual?)

Characteristics to make your OC more original without the classic “red hair, pale skin, different coloured eyes”

  • Webbed fingers
  • One toe/finger missing or adding one
  • Scars! Give them memories
  • Body mods - even though it sounds pretentious, it’s seldomly used bc of that reason. Give them piercings, gauges, tattoos, implants etc etc
  • Make them LGBT+. Not to make them “special” but to make them normal. Not everyone is cishet on this planet, make your story a realistic mirror of reality.
  • A small illness that shows at inconvenient times. Anaemia, a slightly crooked spine, you name it.
  • Naturally dark undereyes
  • Crooked/yellow teeth - it’s natural for some people no matter how much they brush em. Also healthcare isn’t affordable everywhere
  • Flat feet
  • Instead of a resting bitch face - a resting sad face. Or thinking face. “Wow, what are you thinking about?” “Uh.. that my lucky charms this morning may have already expired last week.”
  • Knowledge about really weird things! Architecture in the 20th century, the army, submarines, contemporary art
  • Little habits: chasing pigeons, greeting the news reporter back when he says “good evening” (these are more for younger characters), having to scratch the other side of their face if theyve scratched one side already
  • Having pets: bunnies, geckos, spiders, snakes, mice, rats, birds, chinchillas, fish, frogs, turtles
  • Give them a name with a special meaning, maybe even relevant for the story. But for the love of god leave the spelling as it is. Dont make maikayleighah out of mikayla.
  • Also, names like, skye, skylynn, raine etc do give off a certain :/ vibe
  • Make them religious!
  • Make them break gender rules

Note that you can still do whatever you want to and even if your OC is a ginger named ginger then thats totally fine - its your story. These are just preferences of mine

Percy Headcanons

•He has these big gorgeous eyebrows that are always on point and when he smirks one of them cocks up and Annabeth is inwardly like oh my gods seriously stop being so hot

•He has a deep tan, even darker than Annabeth’s

•His chest is the most prominent, muscular thing about him

•His hair is so black that whenever there are lights directly above him, his hair casts a glare

•His hair is wavy, and falls in his eyes if not properly trimmed. It is also soft as silk

•He has a very faint dusting of freckles over his nose that most people can’t see unless they’re standing close to him

•When he blushes, his cheeks turn bright, beet red and it spreads into his neck when he’s REALLY embarrassed

•Girls often think he wears cologne because his sea scent is so strong and pleasant

•His eyes get crinkly when he grins

•His eyelashes are so dark it almost looks like he wears eyeliner in certain lightings

•When he makes an angry face, his bottom lip juts out slightly (Annabeth thinks it’s cute but would never tell him that)

•In fact, they become such good friends that Will often comes to Percy for advice about Nico

•Piper and Percy are great friends, and Piper never minds if Percy comes along when her and Annabeth are hanging out.

•When Annabeth is studying super hard and is stressed, Percy invites Piper over cause the two of them together help Annabeth relax and have fun once in a while.

•Percy went missing for a day. Annabeth flipped out because she thought it was Hera’s doing all over again, but she found him the next day passed out in the middle of the strawberry fields. Percy offered no explanation.

•Tyson sometimes surprise visits Percy at camp, and the two are always attached at the hip till Tyson has to leave.

•The Stoll brothers once pranked Percy by putting blue highlights in his hair while he slept. Percy ended up LOVING IT. “Thank you so much, guys!!” *crushes Stoll brothers in group hug*

•Percy always Iris Messages his friends at Camp Jupiter. Whether it’s Hazel, Reyna, or Frank, he always knows what’s up.

•Percy loves playing with Annabeth’s hair. She often has to swat his hands away when they are in the middle of something serious

•He has a slight, almost indecipherable New York accent, which usually becomes more prominent when he yells.

•His eyes are so bright green, it is the most prominent thing about him and one can usually see his eyes even when it’s dark.

•Hazel made him a blue and green embroidered bracelet with a trident, which he loves and never takes off.

•When he is angry or upset at dinner, the drinking glasses quiver.

•In one case, he got so angry that the toilets exploded. Again.

•When he is really mad or upset he just walks straight to the bottom of the canoe lake and sits there.

•He almost got suspended from camp when he was so angry he went to the bottom of the lake and summoned a giant wave to look like a hand flipping everyone off when they tried to get him out. Chiron called Sally Jackson, and sent a note to Percy at the bottom with the words “Your mother is on the phone.”

What if Percy had fallen into Tartarus on his own?

This is the headcanon I thought of yesterday, and it’s been plaguing me non-stop, so I decided to share the beauty that this could be.

I don’t really care how it comes to be, you can assume Percy was able to push Annabeth out of the way, sacrificing himself (which would make the ‘Sacrifices, beautiful sacrifices’ line like a thousand times creepier omg) or honestly, a bunch of different scenarios, as long as he falls in, and she doesn’t.

Imagine Percy Jackson, dead set on getting to the Doors of Death, not to save the quest, but to see his girlfriend again, and to at least hug his mom one last time. Imagine Percy Jackson, facing all of those monsters he’s already killed, but without having to worry about anyone’s safety besides his own. [I still stand firm in my belief that Percy has to tone down his powers so they don’t hurt his friends, especially in the case of causing an earthquake/storm (for example: Michael Yew dying on the bridge)].

Imagine Percy Jackson ripping anything that asks him ‘Where’s your little blonde princess, hero?’ to absolute shreds, because they know that Annabeth is usually at his side. Imagine him threatening monsters for information (“If you do not tell me which way to go, I swear on the gods that if you ever regenerate I will hunt you down and make damn sure that you never see the light of day again, got it?”).

Imagine everyone on the Argo II watching Annabeth fall apart as she asks Nico if Percy’s still alive about once every five minutes. And the Iris message call to Sally that she has to make. And them watching Piper’s dagger every chance they can get to see how he’s doing. (Also, how much more progress they’d make with Annabeth still there.) 

Think about how she’d pin any intelligent monster that attacks them, put her dagger to it’s throat, and scream at them for information about what was happening in Tartarus. Think about the POV’s saying how Piper had to practically force Annabeth to eat, and how Annabeth smacked Coach Hedge across the face when he scolds her for sleeping in Percy’s bed.

Most of all, think of the dark Percy. Because I wholeheartedly believe that by the time he escapes: He’s a bloodbender. I mean, look at this:

Annabeth sounded terrified. It took Percy a moment to realize she was terrified of him.

“Percy, please don’t ever…” Her voice broke in a sob. “Some things aren’t meant to be controlled. Please.”

His whole body tingled with power, but the anger was subsiding. The broken glass inside him was beginning to smooth at the edges.

“Yeah,” he said. “Yeah, okay.”

Without Annabeth there, there’s nothing holding him back from doing this to everything he comes across. He can go wild, and I honestly think he would. He’d pretty much have the best training grounds in the world, and can practice practically exploding monsters with his brain. Imagine him making deals with some of the darkest creatures there, promising them freedom if they help him, and then murdering them the second he doesn’t need them.

Imagine him stumbling out of the elevator, and he’s bloody and bruised, muttering about Bob, and everyone is just kind of shocked to see him alive and in somewhat of one piece. Imagine how we’d get a Percabeth reunion that doesn’t involve a judo flip, but instead they’re sobbing on their knees holding onto each other for dear life, with her trying not to squeeze him too hard in case it hurts but he’s about to suffocate her.

Think about how Percy using ‘bloodbending’ in their everyday lives for the first time and scares the hell out of absolutely everyone when he lazily waves his hand and a manticore starts writhing on the deck in pain. Everyone staring at him as he mutters something about having ‘new powers’ and goes back to eating his breakfast.

Think about Annabeth trying to relate to him, but she really can’t, so after a heart to heart she realizes that she just needs to be there for him. Percy and Annabeth sitting up at night as he tries to make himself tell her about his nightmares no matter how hard it is, and Annabeth kissing him over and over and promising him that she loves him, even when he insists he’s broken or evil.

Gaea mocking Percy with stories about all of the sick things he did to monsters, making the rest of the seven confused. Nico and he having long talks, not about Nico’s crush, but about how to deal with Tartarus, and the two of them getting really close.

Annabeth acting as Percy Defense Squad No. 1, and glaring at anyone who tried to avoid being near Percy, and insisting that he’s still their Percy, and being the only one who gets to see him after nightmares and rubbing the small of his back and whispering about it being okay and taking the time to explain to anyone who asks what happened to him. 

Monsters taunting Percy, trying to get him on edge, growling, “Remember when you made Misery miserable, Percy Jackson? Do you remember the feeling of her choking on her own poison?”  and Annabeth stepping in front of her agitated boyfriend, and even though she doesn’t know what the monster is talking about, she’s snapping at it to back off and grabbing Percy’s hand to calm him down.

Jason admitting he’s legitimately scared of Percy, and everyone seems to agree. Everyone watching as Percy kills things in this new and inhuman way, and Nico whispering “Well, we should just be glad he’s on our side then.” The gods treating Percy differently, with more respect and fear, none of them wanting to bring it up to him that they don’t like his style, and are worried if he turned.

Percy Jackson alone in Tartarus is the dark Percy we can only dream about.

Let me start by saying BONNIE WOULD ATTEND THE MIKAELSON BALL GODDAMMIT.

And there’d be a Cinderella moment where the whole room stops and goes silent momentarily because she looks so beautiful. And Bonnie brings a date but Kol spends the whole evening watching her so much so that he even gets distracted from his plans with Rebekah involving breaking Matt’s throwing arm, which is just as well considering how cosy Matt and Rebekah get once they’re in the parking lot.

Instead of that random doctor, Alaric was mulling around with Kol would spot Bonnie in the bar playing pool (because she didn’t want Caroline to be alone in the bar with Klaus etc). He almost doesn’t recognise her in plain clothes but recognises the eyes immediately. Obviously, Kol starts flirting, Bonnie is having none of it and ignores him until he becomes too irritating to ignore.

Then there’s a lot of back and forth, Kol flirts even harder and Bonnie without meaning to flirts back even just a tiny bit. It becomes quite humorous because every time Kol goes anywhere near Bonnie she moves away in the other direction, so it turns into a slow-motion game of chase around the pool table. (Which is even funnier when you remember that Kol is a vampire)

Kol shocks Bonnie because he can immediately tell she’s a witch and even confess to knowing a thing or too about Bennett witches and their magic but as soon as Bonnie enquiries further Kol passes out because one of his other siblings is daggered and Alaric rushes Bonnie out of the bar.

I’d have a million moments all through season 3 and 4 like the first eye sex moment they had together. Just subtle little flirtations here and there. Somehow, Bonnie would always end up being the one thwarting Kol’s plans and besting him. Which intrigues him just as much as it frustrates him and he finds himself completely fascinated with Bonnie.

In the second hallway scene instead of trying to attack Bonnie, he finds her and subtly threatens her and she not so subtly threatens him back. He says something along the lines of “I know you’re plotting against me and my family, It won’t work. So I’m giving you the chance love, as I said I have a soft spot for witches especially ones as pretty as you but I only have so much patience, so don’t push me”

And she smiles and asks if he considers this pushing him and releases the spell from hell and paralyses him and runs.

Maybe I’d kill Kol - only not by way of either of the Gilberts because that was just insulting - and I’d have Kol come back and ask Bonnie fro her help at graduation and she’d say yes OR I’d have them team up o something else and Kol would help Bonnie control her magic and might even steal his mother’s grimoire for her to use and to piss Klaus off.

At the end of season 4 when the Originals are leaving I can see Kol seeking out Bonnie who asks him if he’s going to NOLA with Klaus and Kol responding by saying that he’s going as far away from his siblings as possible and the then cheekily asks her to come with him Bonnie, laughs at him, scoffs and declines even though Kol was being serious. He tells he she can’t stay in MF forever she asks why not, ‘lots of people stay in the town they grew up in’ and Kol responds with you’re not most people Bonnie Bennett’

The next time they see each other is when Bonnie agrees to go to New Orleans with Caroline. They become a couple on The Originals and Bonnie becomes stronger than ever as a witch.

I don’t blame Candice Patton for iris. She just doing her job. I blame the writers how can someone push a ship so hard but but write one half bad. It’s getting to the point where I think they really don’t care about the show anymore. Despite saying that Barry and Caitlin are best friends, they have had one conversation this season. Unless it was Caitlin informing them on something about science. It seem that they don’t care about Barry either. I find it weird and rude that half way into the season Barry is some what annoyed with iris. When you live with someone you find out stuff you never knew about them. I mean that’s why people say take couples counseling when you engaged. It make the process of living with someone you easier. If you don’t something every thing come crashing down. I really wanted to like iris I really did but I can’t. I liked her in season one when she was with Eddie. They were good together they balance each other out. Patty was my favorite love interest for barry.
